William Layton (actor)
William Layton (1912–1994) was an American playwright and actor.
Education and Early Career
- Trained at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts
- On a trip to London, along with his friend Thornton Wilder was introduced to European theater
- Returned to the states and joined the American Theatre Wing in New York
- Met his future mentor, Sanford Meisner, entering the Neighborhood Playhouse.
Awards and Accolades
- Best Director of the Year ( 1979 )
- Daedalus Award 1990 ( Daily 16 )
- Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Arts in 1989 .
