William Layton (actor)

William Layton (1912–1994) was an American playwright and actor.

Education and Early Career

Trained at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts
On a trip to London, along with his friend Thornton Wilder was introduced to European theater
Returned to the states and joined the American Theatre Wing in New York
Met his future mentor, Sanford Meisner, entering the Neighborhood Playhouse.

Awards and Accolades

Best Director of the Year ( 1979 )
Daedalus Award 1990 ( Daily 16 )
Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Arts in 1989 .
