William P. Potter

William P. Potter was an Admiral, of the US Navy.

Career

Starting in March 1907 while a Captain, he served as the first commander of the battleship USS Vermont. In this capacity, he participated in the cruise of the Great White Fleet.[1]

In 1909 after Potter was promoted to Rear Admiral, Secretary of the Navy George von Lengerke Meyer appointed him as his first Aide for Personnel. In this capacity, Potter also oversaw the Bureau of Navigation.[2]
