The Saint Petersburg State Youth Theatre on the Fontanka (Санкт-Петербургский государственный молодёжный театр на Фонтанке) is a theatre on the banks of the River Fontanka in Saint Petersburg founded in 1979.[1] It plays Russian classic plays in the winter seasons and hosts a rock concert in the summer.[2]
History
The theatre was founded in 1979 by Vladimir Malyschitsky, aiming to be a theatre of innovative direction, and has focused on young playwrights and performers, as well as amateurs.[3] The current artistic director is Semyon Spivak, who joined the theatre in 1989.[4]
