Yuzana Plaza

Yuzana Plaza[1] is a five-storey building located in Banyardala Road, Mingala Taungnyunt Township, Yangon,[2] Myanmar[3] (Burma). It is one of the famous plazas in Yangon. It is also a popular shopping destination for local residents, the plaza is something more like an old shopping mall than a traditional market. On the ground floor, there are many wholesale outlets, selling packaged food, beverages, and even pets. Shops on the upper floors sell electronic products, fashion household appliances, mobile handset and furnitures. There are so many mobile phone repairing shop at level 3. There are also restaurants, coffee shops, donut cafe and some other beverage shops on the upper floors.

Location

Yuzana Plaza is located on Banyardala Road which is start from Theinbyu Tennis Court to Tamwe Circle. Yuzana Plaza is also near with Mingalar Shopping Mall (only 200 meters) and Kandawgyi Lake. It is located on the border of Mingala Taungnyunt Township and Tamwe Township. There is a bus stop called Yuzana Plaza Bus Stop opposite to it.

History

Yuzana Plaza was completed in 1994 and shops in the plaza opened at the beginning of 1995. The owner of the whole plaza is Mr. Htay Myint[4] also known as Yuzana U(Oo) Htay Myint, one of the richest persons in Myanmar (Burma). During the late 1990s and early 2000s, Yuzana Plaza is a nice place for shopping. During the late 2000s and early 2010s, the displaying of stuff inside the plaza become annoying. After Mingalar Shopping Mall was almost completely destroyed by fire in 2010, almost all of the shops from Mingalar Shopping Mall moved to Yuzana Plaza. After 2010, Yuzana became the most crowded plaza in Yangon.
