Ziskakan

Ziskakan is a maloya group from Réunion. The frontman is Gilbert Pounia.[1] They are one of the most famous bands from the island.[2] The band formed in 1979.[3] Their style includes adding modern techniques to traditional maloya[4] (called electric maloya[5]), as well as adding Indian instruments.[3] Some of their lyrics are from early poems by Dev Virahsawmy,[6] including many of the poems from Les Lapo Kabri Gazuyé.[7]
