In their fifth year under head coach William H. Spaulding, the Bruins compiled a 4-4 record (1-3 conference) and finished in sixth place in their second year in the Pacific Coast Conference (PCC), although the season was notable for the inauguration of the rivalry with cross-town USC.[1]
