The 1993–94 Charlotte Hornets season was Charlotte's 6th season in the National Basketball Association.[1] During the offseason, the Hornets acquired Hersey Hawkins from the Philadelphia 76ers and Eddie Johnson from the Seattle SuperSonics. Coming off their first playoff appearance, the Hornets played around .500 for the first half of the season as Johnny Newman was traded to the New Jersey Nets for Rumeal Robinson. However, as Larry Johnson and Alonzo Mourning both missed an amount of games due to injuries, the Hornets struggled and lost 15 of 16 games midway through the season. With the return of Johnson and Mourning, they would win 18 of their final 26 games, and finish the season fifth in the Central Division with a 41–41 record. However, it was not enough as they narrowly missed out on a second straight playoff appearance.

The Hornets led the NBA in attendance for the fifth time in six seasons. Mourning was selected for the 1994 NBA All-Star Game, but did not play due to being injured. Dell Curry was named Sixth Man of The Year averaging 16.3 points per game off the bench.
