The 2010–11 Toledo Walleye season was the 2nd season for the Toledo Walleye in the ECHL. Nick Vitucci returned as the team's head coach^[1] and continued their affiliations with the National Hockey League's Chicago Blackhawks and Detroit Red Wings and the American Hockey League's Grand Rapids Griffins and Rockford IceHogs.^[2]

Preseason

On July 8, the Walleye announced that they had signed Nick Vitucci to return to the team as head coach.^[1] The following day, the Walleye announced that they had renewed their affiliation agreement with the NHL's Detroit Red Wings for the 2010–11 season. The agreement between Toledo and Detroit will also include the Grand Rapids Griffins serving as Toledo's American Hockey League affiliate.^[2] The Walleye and the Chicago Blackhawks extended their affiliation agreement for the upcoming season in early July.

The Walleye made their first signing of the 2010–11 season on July 13, re-signing forward Sal Peralta.^[3] The Walleye continued the following day, re-signing forward Scooter Smith and signed free agent forward Mike Walsh, who had played the previous two seasons with the AHL's Grand Rapids Griffins.^[4] A fourth and fifth signing came a few days later, as Toledo re-signed defenceman Kyle Page and signed free agent forward Dominic Osman, who had started the 2009–10 season with Toledo before being traded to the Florida Everblades.^[5] The Walleye would sign defenseman Brett Blatchford in late July. Blatchford, who spent the 2009–10 season with the AHL's Chicago Wolves and ECHL's Idaho Steelheads after completing his collegiate career at the University of Notre Dame, went to school at St. Francis de Sales High School in Toledo.^[6]

In late August, 2009–10 team captain Ryan Stokes agreed to come back to the team for what may be his final professional season, opting to join his family's business as a boilermaker once his career is over.^[7]

Regular season

Toledo began its second season in the ECHL with a home-and-home series with the division rival Wheeling Nailers, the first game was on October 15 at Wheeling's WesBanco Arena, a 4–0 victory for Toledo. The following night (October 16), the two teams met at Toledo's Huntington Center, which Wheeling won 6–0. The Walleye concluded the 2010–11 season with a 4–3 loss on April 2 at Wheeling.^[8]
