In 2015 Shelbourne F.C. are competing in the League of Ireland First Division for the second successive season following failed attempt at promotion having been knocked out in the promotion play-off's the previous season. Philip Hughes returned to the club after a loan-spell at Drogheda United F.C. and the club saw new management under former football player Kevin Doherty after Johnny McDonnell left the side prior to the start of the season.

Shelbourne F.C. beat Drogheda United F.C. in the second round of the 2015 League of Ireland cup but were defeated by Dundalk F.C. in the third round.
FAI Cup
Shelbourne lost to Dundalk F.C. in the second round of the FAI Cup.
