The 2016 Malawi Premier Division is the 31st season of the Malawi Premier Division, the top professional league for association football clubs in Malawi, since its establishment in 1986.
Big Bullets F.C. came into the season as defending champions of the 2015 season. Dwangwa United, Max Bullets and Chilumba Barracks entered as the three promoted teams from the regional leagues.[1]
Clubs
A total of 15 teams will contest the league including 12 teams from the previous season and three teams promoted from regional leagues. The three promoted teams replace Dedza Young Soccer, Airborne Rangers and Surestream who were all relegated to the regional leagues at the end of the previous season.
