The 2017 USL season will be the seventh season of the USL and the twenty-third season of USSF sanctioned Division III play organized by the United Soccer Leagues.

On October 25, 2016 the league announced its first expansion team, the Tampa Bay Rowdies, who are moving to the league from the NASL.[1] The same day it was announced that the league would also add the Ottawa Fury from the NASL.[2]

The new ownership of Arizona United SC rebranded the team as Phoenix Rising FC on November 28, 2016. [3]
