46th (Liverpool Welsh) Royal Tank Regiment
The 46th (Liverpool Welsh) Royal Tank Regiment (46 RTR) was an armoured regiment of the British Army that saw active service during World War II. It was part of the Royal Tank Regiment, itself part of the Royal Armoured Corps.
The regiment was part of the Territorial Army and was originally formed in 1939 as a 2nd Line duplicate of the 40th (The King's) Royal Tank Regiment, a newly mobilised 1st Line Territorial Army unit. The regiment saw service during the Italian Campaign, in particular during the Battle of Anzio.
In 1947, it was reconstituted as an anti-aircraft regiment of the Royal Artillery, and was absorbed into another regiment of the RA in 1956.
