Accrediting Council for Continuing Education and Training

The Accrediting Council for Continuing Education and Training (ACCET) is a private, non-profit organization in the United States that provides national accreditation to private, post-secondary educational institutions offering non-collegiate vocational, avocational and English-language training which may be approved to award validated CEUs, certificates and/or an Occupational Associates Degree.

ACCET has been recognized by the United States Department of Education as an independent accrediting agency[1] since 1978.[2] In 1988 ACCET became the first accrediting organization to receive ISO certification, according to the standards established by the International Organization for Standardization.

The scope of accreditation has some overlap with the scope of the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools, (ACICS) that has been the accrediting agency for private institutions offering non-degree courses as well as undergraduate and graduate diplomas and degree. The withdrawal of United States Department of Education recognition of ACICS in September 2016 [1][2] has led to the possibility that some of the institutions formerly accredited by that agency might become accredited by ACCET.[3]
