Ahmed Hegazy (Arabic: أحمد حجازي) (born January 25, 1991) is an association football player who currently plays for Al Ahly. He plays as a Central Defender. He has been capped to play for Egypt's under-20 national team, under-23 national team, and recently, the first team as well[1]
Club
Ismaily
His professional playing career began in November 24, 2009, when he made his debut with Egyptian club, Ismaily playing as a Full Back.
Fiorentina
On 22 December 2011, the Egyptian club announced that he has made a deal with Fiorentina, an Italian football club, in exchange for 1.5 million euros. The Egyptian company will receive 15% sell on fee.[2] He was given the number 3 shirt. Hegazy made his unofficial debut for Fiorentina this week, playing 30 minutes in a friendly against Viareggio Calcio, He played 15 min in his Official debut against Atalanta B.C. on 18 Nov 2012, and scored his first goal for La Viola later that month in the second half of a Coppa Italia match against Juve Stabia on November 28. On 12 December 2012 Fiorentina announced that Hegazy had completed a surgery after sustaining a severe leg injury in training. The club also announced that Ahmed Hegazy had undergone reconstructive surgery on his anterior cruciate ligament. The expected recovery period before the player could return to sports activity is 5–6 months.
On 8 December 2014, Fiorentina announced that the player will be released in January 2015, along with Octávio, Mounir El Hamdaoui, Oleksandr Iakovenko and Joshua Brillante.[3]
Perugia
On 2 February 2015, Hegazy joined Serie B side Perugia on loan for the rest of 2014–15 Serie B.[4] He made his debut for the club in a 3-1 loss to Vicenza.He played the whole 90 minutes, and that was his first complete match in Italy.[5]
Al Ahly
On 1 September 2015, Hegazy joined Egyptian Premier League side Al Ahly for 5 years.[6]

Style of play
Ahmed Hegazy is widely known as the 'Nesta of the Pyramids'. He was given this nickname as his playing style somewhat resembles the playing style of his Italian counterpart, Alessandro Nesta.
