Akiba's Trip (Japanese: アキバズトリップ, Hepburn: Akibazu Torippu) is a Japanese video game franchise by developer Acquire. The franchise consists of four games, two of which are upcoming, and an anime television series adaptation by Gonzo that will premiere in January 2017.

The original Akiba's Trip game was released on PlayStation Portable in Japan by Acquire on May 19, 2011.^[1]^[2] An updated version, titled Akiba's Trip Plus, was released for PSP on June 14, 2012.^[3]^[2]

Akiba's Trip 2

Acquire released Akiba's Trip 2 on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita in Japan on November 7, 2013,^[4]^[5]^[2] and on PlayStation 4 on July 3, 2014.^[6] XSEED Games released the game in North America under the title Akiba's Trip: Undead & Undressed.^[2] They released the game on PS3 and PSVita on August 12, 2014,^[7] on PS4 on November 25, 2014,^[8] and on PC on May 26, 2015.^[9] Additionally, NIS America released the game in Europe.^[2]

Akiba's Trip Festa! is scheduled to be released for PC and Android in November 2016.^[2]

Akiba's Beat

Akiba's Beat, the first action RPG game in the franchise, was originally scheduled for a fall 2016 release on PS4 and PS Vita, but was later delayed to December 2016,^[10]^[11]^[12] with the PS4 version due to be released on December 15, while the PS Vita release is undated.^[13] The game is directed by Kōta Takano, while ClariS is performing the theme song, "again".^[12] XSEED Games will release the game in North America in the first quarter of 2017.^[14]^[12]

Anime

An anime television series adaptation titled Akiba's Trip: The Animation was announced at Tokyo Game Show on September 15, 2016.^[2] The anime is meant to commemorate studio Gonzo's 25th anniversary.^[2] It will be directed by Hiroshi Ikehata and written by Kazuho Hyodo, with animation by Gonzo.^[2]^[15] Character designs will be produced by Hajime Mitsuda.^[2]^[15] The opening theme song is performed by the voice actress music unit Earphones.^[16]

The series is scheduled to premiere on January 4, 2017, and will be broadcast on AT-X, Tokyo MX and BS Fuji.^[17]
