Apostolic Prefecture of Endeber
The Apostolic Prefecture of Endeber was a short-lived (1940-1951) Latin Catholic pre-diocesan missionary jurisdiction with (nominal?) see in Endeber, in Ethiopia (East Africa).
It was exempt, i.e. directly dependent on the Holy See.
History and Ordinary
It was established on 1940.02.13, during the Italian occupation, as Apostolic Vicariate of Endeber, on territory split off from the then Apostolic Vicariate of Gimma (Jimma, now Nekemte), in western Ethiopia.
On 1951.10.31 it was suppressed, its territory being merged into the Apostolic Exarchate of Addis Abeba, in Abyssinia.
Its first and only Ordinary was Father Federico da Baselga, Capuchin Friars Minor (O.F.M. Cap.) (1940.11.15 – death 1945).
