Athirah is a 2016 Indonesian biography film directed by Riri Riza and released on September 29, 2016.[2] It is based on a book by Alberthiene Endah by the same title.[3] It is a story of Jusuf Kalla's mother that always faces every single problem by looking on the positive side.[4] Produced by Mira Lesmana, the film has received a positive response by Kalla Group.[5]
The film stars Cut Mini, Christoffer Nelwan, Tika Bravani, Indah Permatasari and Jajang C. Noer. In addition to Indonesia, Athirah also has premiered in a number of countries [6] including Vancouver International Film Festival, Busan International Film Festival[7] and Tokyo International Film Festival.[8]
Accolades
At the 36th Indonesian Film Festival, the biography-themed film won six trophy awards including Citra Award for Best Film and Citra Award for Best Leading Actress for Cut Mini.[9][10]
