Baileo

Baileo is a custom house,[1] in Maluku and North Maluku, Indonesia.[2] The house is a representation of the Baileo Maluku culture and has an important function for the life of the community.[2] Baileo is the identity of any community in the Moluccas in addition to a mosque or church.[3]

Baileo serves as a repository for sacred objects,[1] a place of traditional ceremonies,[1] as well as a place for community meetings,[3] The main characteristic of the Baileo home is its large size and difference in appearance when compared to other buildings in its vicinity.[4][5]
