Basim Qasim Hamdan (born 22 March 1959) is an Iraqi football midfielder who played for Iraq in the 1986 FIFA World Cup.[1] He also played for Al-Shorta and is the current manager of Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya. He managed Duhok to their first ever Iraqi Premier League title in 2010 and also managed Al-Zawraa to the league title in 2016.

He started his football career with Al-Jaish youth team at the age of 14 and then later went on to play for Amana, which featured a number of top young players such as Basil Gorgis, Natiq Hashim and Karim Allawi.

Basim played at the 1986 World Cup in Mexico after he was called up by Brazilian coach Evaristo de Macedo to replace injured Adnan Dirjal. The defender played 2 games in the World Cup one as a sub against Paraguay and the other game he was lining up against the hosts Mexico, as a midfielder.[2] Basim is in the Al Shorta Hall of Fame.[3]
