The Battle of Lireo or Siege of Lireo was a fictional military engagement in the Great Encantadian War that took place 3,000 years ago, around the great Capital city of Lireo, the centre of the Lirean kingdom. It was fought by the army of Etherian Queen Avria against the alliance of Lireo,Sapiro,Adamya and Hathoria united under the leadership of Mine-a of the Diwatas. It was the last major offensive of Etheria and a major battle between the united forces of Encantadia and the Empire of Etheria, and is considered to be one of Lireo's greatest military achievements and a classic example of Mine-a's superb military leadership and the development of the Envelopment tactics. The battle of Lireo marked the end of Etheria's invasion of Lireo .

The battle site was at the walls and the great gates around Lireo At many points in the battle the Encatadians were outnumbered by the Etherian forces by at least four to one. The event is the greatest military feat of Lireo, including Minea-a herself . After the Lirean victory, Etheria's armies were forced to retreat back to Adamya

Prelude

The Etherian Imperial force (1,000,000 strong), led by the Etherian Queen in person, had scored victories in several battles and conquered most of Sapiro and Adamya,Southern Lireo and the outlying regions.Queen Avria seeks to destroy the main base of the rebels in Lireo,she also seek to capture Mine-a and parade her in chains in the Etherian capital,so she invades Lireo with her whole army

Lirean defense

The first defensive walls at the outskirts of Lireo were made hastily. Before the main Etherian army arrived, this Army encircled the city after successful skermishes with scattered elements of Encatadian troops, the Lirean armies led by Prince Raquim and the then Prince Hagorn started pouring out of Lerio's city centre, while forces under Mine-a herself had pushed from the southern gate against the first formations of Etherian troops. Defenses in Lireo's city center were mainly led by King Armeo and King Arvak. These armies consisted of several Sapirian and Hathorian legions, along with tribes of Barbarian soldiers. Within the next few days, the Etherian Army were thrown back from the city centre where fierce hand-to-hand combat raged.

Aftermath

The battle proved to be the end of major and organized Etherian military advance against Lireo and effectively marked the beginning of the end of Etheria's offensive power. In the following years there was the disastrous annihilation of Etheria's remaining forces in Adamya. During the Encantadian counter offensives Etheria was left without a reserve army only the militia were left which were easily driven back by the much more professional Encantadian regular troops. Only the Mountain tribes has any regular forces left thanks to their victory against the Encatadian troops at the Battle of the hills.

For Mine-a,the battle was an enormous personal success, both militarily and politically. The kingdoms of Lireo,Sapiro,Adamya and Hathoria declared a thanksgiving celebration for this victory, giving the Lirean Queen the honour of celebrating a triumphal parade, the peak of any Queen's career. This led to the end of the Etherian Empire and the beginning of the rule by the Sang'gres.^[1][2]
