Behrouz Vossoughi (Persian: بهروز وثوقی‎‎),[1] born as Khalil Vossoughi (Persian: خلیل وثوقی‎‎)[2] (10 March 1938 in Khoy, Iran) is an Iranian actor, TV Host and Model.

Career

Behrouz Vossoughi is one of Iran's most legendary actors. He has over 40 years of experience in the motion picture industry, with featured appearances in more than 90 films. In addition to his work in films, Vossoughi has worked in television, radio and theater. He started acting in films with Samuel Khachikian Toofan dar Shahre Ma and Abbas Shabaviz's Gole gomshodeh (1962). He became a major star as the brooding hero of the revenge drama Qeysar (1969), directed by Masoud Kimiai. his role Qeysar as a symbol of the Iran community became, and recived Best Actor Award Sepas Film Festival, His work has earned him recognition at several international film festivals, he won the prize for Best Actor at the International Film Festival of India in 1974 and the Lifetime Achievement Award at the San Francisco International Film Festival in 2006. He went on to collaborate with Kimiaie on five more films includingDash Akol (1971). His next collaboration with Kimiai The Deers in (1974) the role Seyed Rasoul. Vossoughi most acclaimed performance as Zar Mohamad, a peasant seeking justice in Tangsir occurred in (1975). This compelling epic, directed by Amir Naderi. In the same year in the The Beehive movie the role Ebi. Vossoughi the 1978 year partnership with Ali Hatami in movie Sooteh-Delan appeared in a different role. He was one of the first Iranians to appear in American and European co-productions, such as Caravans in (1978), co-starring with Anthony Quinn, Jennifer O'Neill and Michael Sarrazin. He also appeared in The Invincible Six (1970) with Curd Jürgens, and Sphinx (1981) with Frank Langella and Lesley-Anne Down. In 2000, at the San Francisco Film Festival award ceremony, Abbas Kiarostami was awarded the Akira Kurosawa Prize for lifetime achievement in directing, but surprised everyone by giving it away to veteran Iranian actor Behrouz Vossoughi for his contribution to Iranian cinema.[3][4] Behrouz In 2012, he was an official festival judge for the Noor Iranian Film Festival. He is a judge on Persian Talent Show.

Behrouz Vossoughi currently resides in San Rafael, California with his wife, Catherine Vossoughi. Previously, he was briefly married, in the 1970s, to the Iranian singer Googoosh.
