Brooks Hansen is an American novelist, screenwriter, and illustrator best known for his 1995 book The Chess Garden. He has also written one young adult's novel. He lives with his family in Carpinteria, California. He was the recipient of the John Simon Guggenheim Fellowship in 2005. He teaches at Cate School in Carpinteria as an English teacher. Known as an exceptional teacher, writer, drawer, in a Humanities course at Cate School.
