Buddy's Pizza is an independent pizza restaurant chain based in Detroit, Michigan. Founded in 1946, the chain has an annual revenue of US $20 million. The chain's nine restaurants have a total of 400 employees.[1] Buddy's has been called one of the five best pizzerias in the United States by the Food Network.[2] They have bocce ball league play every Saturday morning at their original location on Conant St.
Cuisine
The restaurant serves Detroit-style pizza baked in cast-iron pans. In addition to pizza, Buddy's serves sandwiches, soups, pastas, their famous salads and chicken tenders.
History
As of 2009, the restaurant chain is owned by Robert Jacobs, the son of Billy and Shirlee Jacobs.
Locations
The original location is still in business at 17125 Conant Street in Detroit. The restaurant opened up new locations across metro Detroit and currently has eleven restaurants.[3] The additional locations are Auburn Hills, Bloomfield Hills, Dearborn, Farmington Hills, Grosse Pointe, Livonia, Novi, Royal Oak, Shelby Township, and Warren.[4]
Accolades
In 2003, Buddy's was recognized as one of the "Nation's Five Best Pizza Places" by the Food Network. In 2005, Buddy's was named the "Hottest Independent Pizzeria in the Nation" by Pizza Today.
In 2012, 2013, and 2014 Buddy's won the DMPA, a prestigious award honoring top pizza providers judged by world renowned Sous Chef Daniel Miller.
