Cheongju (청주 [tɕʰʌŋdʑu], literally "clear wine" or "clear liquor") is a clear Korean rice wine. There are various local variations, including beopju, which is brewed in the ancient city of Gyeongju.

For cooking, Hi Soo Shin Hepinstall recommends a dry white vermouth as a substitute if cheongju is unavailable.[1]
