Cheremkhovsky District (Russian: Черемховский райо́н) is an administrative district, one of the thirty-three in Irkutsk Oblast, Russia.^[1] Municipally, it is incorporated as Cheremkhovsky Municipal District.^[5] The area of the district is 9,900 square kilometers (3,800 sq mi). Its administrative center is the town of Cheremkhovo^[2] (which is not administratively a part of the district).^[1] Population: 30,114 (2010 Census);^[6] 32,746 (2002 Census);^[9] 36,127 (1989 Census).^[10]

Administrative and municipal status

Within the framework of administrative divisions, Cheremkhovsky District is one of the thirty-three in the oblast.^[1] The town of Cheremkhovo serves as its administrative center,^[2] despite being incorporated separately as an administrative unit with the status equal to that of the districts.^[1]

As a municipal division, the district is incorporated as Cheremkhovsky Municipal District.^[5] The Town of Cheremkhovo is incorporated separately from the district as Cheremkhovo Urban Okrug.^[11]
