Christian Jensen Jr. (November 17, 1868 – January 20, 1958) was born in Ephraim, Utah, later immigrating to Canada, where he became a successful businessman and farmer and rancher in rural Southern Alberta. He was instrumental in establishing several of the leading agricultural organizations in Alberta of the early 20th century. The Magrath Irrigation District and the Government of the Alberta named the first structure in the St. Mary's River Development after Jensen—The Jensen Dam and Jensen Reservoir.^[1]

Career

• President of the Canadian Co-operative Wool Growers (1937–49), named an Honorary Knight of the Golden Fleece on March 30, 1950.^[2]
• Inducted to the Canadian Agriculture Hall of Fame, 1962^[3][4]
• President Magrath Irrigation District (25 years).
• Member of the provisional board of directors establishing the Alberta Wheat Pool.
• Director and founding father of the Alberta Wheat Pool (22 years).^[5]
• Board of Director Canadian Wheat Pool.
• Town of Magrath's^[6] second mayor.
• First president of the Southern Alberta Sheep Breeders.^[7]
• First president of the Alberta Federation of Agriculture,^[8] 1936-1941^[9]
• Partner in Jensen Ranching Company, Limited (1907).^[10]
• Delegate to the 1st-annual Convention of the Western Canada Irrigation Association (1908) ^[11]

Church Service

• 1894, three-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) in the Samoan Islands.
• 1911–13, second LDS Church mission as the 16th president of the Samoa Islands Mission.^{[12][13][14][15][16]}

Family

Son of Christian Jensen and Barbara Christensen Jensdatter, of Redmond, Sevier County, Utah.^[17][18]

Christian^[19] and Allie had five children. Afton (Daivd) Keeler, born Utah; Cleo (Lloyd) Ririe, Lalovee (Lasca) Jensen,^[20] Allie (Rondo) Robinson, and Beatrice (Ray) Harker, all born in Alberta.
