State Road 807 (SR 807), locally known as Congress Avenue, is a 4.29 miles (6.90 km) long northsouth highway serving central Palm Beach County from an intersection with Lake Worth Road (SR 802) just south of Palm Springs, north to its northern terminus is an interchange with Southern Boulevard (US 98-SR 80) and Australian Avenue (County Road 704A) adjacent to Palm Beach International Airport. Congress Avenue is a popular commuting alternative to the often-congested Interstate 95 and similarly-crowded US 1 (SR 5) in eastern Palm Beach County.

Route description

State Road 807 begins at the intersection of SR 802 (Lake Worth Road) at the northwestern end of a campus of Palm Beach State College, with SR 807 taking Congress Avenue north through a major commercial area for its entire route. It enters Palm Springs, and intersects SR 882 (Forest Hill Boulevard), before exiting Palm Springs and entering West Palm Beach, clipping the western corner of Glen Ridge at its northern terminus at the interchange with U.S. 98/SR 80, where the road continues as County Road 704A (Australian Avenue).[2]

Another section of Congress Avenue exists north of the airport. It begins at Belvedere Road in West Palm Beach and continues north SR 850 (Northlake Boulevard) in North Palm Beach. It is 8.5 miles long and has no state or county road designation.[3]

South of Lake Worth Road, Congress Avenue continues as County Road 807, although the county road designation is rarely used when giving verbal directions. It quickly passes by JFK Medical Center as it enters Lantana. The busy intersection with Congress Avenue and County Road 812 (Lantana Road) sits at the southwest corner of Palm Beach County Park Airport, locally known as Lantana Airport. The next major intersection is with Hypoluxo Road, which leads to a number of public schools. Continuing south, Congress enters the city of Boynton Beach and intersects with Gateway Boulevard. At this intersection is the Renaissance Commons, a shopping center and restaurant locale built on the former site of a Motorola plant. Further into Boynton Beach, Congress passes by a large number of additional malls near Old Boynton Road and Boynton Beach Boulevard (Route 804. As the county road continues into Delray Beach, it becomes closer to Interstate 95. Exit 50 of I-95 serves Congress Avenue and a nearby park & ride. Congress Avenue and County Road 807 terminate at the intersection with Yamato Road / NW 51st Street (SR 794), near the Boca Raton Tri-Rail Station.[5]
