Plot

Manny (Rico Rodriguez) has convinced the whole family to take the train in order to attend Jay’s (Ed O'Neill) ex-wife Dede remarriage.

At first, Jay is glad to see that his ex finally moved on but starts to reminisce about good times with her. As Gloria (Sofía Vergara) is obliged to leave the first class, she finds herself unable to get back inside because she lost her ticket. Jay talks with Dede’s future stepson whose dad is almost remarried to her, and advises him not to consider her with consideration.

Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) and Claire (Julie Bowen) are in charge of writing the toast and this forces Claire to make amends with her mother. Dede then reveals to her original family through the webcam that Claire is not allowed to seat with the family members.

As the Pritchett are busy, their husbands Phil (Ty Burrell) and Cameron (Eric Stonestreet) meet their favorite author, Simon Hastings, who just finished to write his new polar book’s first chapter. When they accidentally ruin the synopsis, they spend the whole episode to find a way to give Hastings’s confidence back and finally manage to encourage him to pursue his book.

Luke (Nolan Gould) finds himself attracted by a woman who seems to be older than him. He almost manages to hit on her, only to become disappointed when she appears to be a geography teacher who prefers teach him about towns rather than have sex with him. Alex (Ariel Winter) is seduced by a young man who wants really to be with her. She later realizes she was manipulated by him, and that he actually was a thief who stole her wallet.
