Daryl Roth is an ten time Tony Award-winning Broadway producer who has produced over 90 productions on and off Broadway.

Roth is the only producer of seven Pulitzer Prize-winning plays: Bruce Norris’ Clybourne Park (Tony Award); Tracy Letts’ August: Osage County (Tony Award); Nilo Cruz’s Anna in the Tropics; David Auburn’s Proof (Tony Award); Margaret Edson’s Wit; Paula Vogel’s How I Learned to Drive; and Edward Albee’s Three Tall Women.[1]

Kinky Boots opened at the Adelphi Theatre in London on September 15, 2015. It won the Evening Standard Theatre Award, the What's On Stage Award and the Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Musical in 2016[6]

Daryl Roth Theatre

The former Union Square Savings Bank building was acquired by Daryl Roth in 1996 and has undergone renovation and additions in order to create three exceptional venues. The Daryl Roth Theatre: currently home to the New York theatrical sensation Fuerza Bruta, the DR2 Theatre: an intimate performance space, and the downstairs cabaret bar: The D-Lounge.[14]

Philanthropy and accolades

Daryl is a Member of the Mayor’s Theater Subdistrict Council,[15] an Honorary Trustee for Lincoln Center Theatre,[16] and served on the Board of Directors of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and New York State Council on the Arts.

Her other awards and honors include: The 2016 Order of the Golden Sphinx Award from The Hasty Pudding Institute of 1770;[17] The 2014 New York Living Landmarks award;[18] The 2013 Einstein Humanitarian Award from The Women's Division and Albert Einstein College of Medicine;[19] The 2013 Broadway Association Visionary Leader Award;[20] The Stella Adler 2012 Harold Clurman Spirit Award;[21] the 2012 Family Equality Council Hostetter-Habib Family Award; The 2011 Live Out Loud Humanitarian Award,[22] 2010 Lucille Lortel Lifetime Achievement Award,[23] Primary Stages 2007 Honoree,[24] The National Foundation for Jewish Culture’s Patron of the Arts Award,[25] The Jewish Theological Seminary’s Louis Marshall Award,[26] The Albert Einstein College of Medicine Spirit of Achievement Award,[27] The National Corporate Theatre Fund’s Chairman Award, and The Tisch School of the Arts Award for Artistic Leadership.[28] Ms. Roth was profiled in The New Yorker and twice included in Crain’s “100 Most Influential Women in Business.[29]

The Daryl Roth Creative Spirit Award annually honors a gifted theatre artist or organization, providing them with financial support as they develop new works in an artistic residency.[1][30] The first Creative Spirit Award was given to Michael Mayer in 1996. Over the years the award has been given to Mark Brokaw, Sinan Unel, Steven Williford, Cybille Pearson, G. W. Mercier, Edwin Sanchez, Debra Monk, Kia Corthron, Michael Wilson, Karen Hartman, Anika Noni Rose, David Pittu, Musical Theatre Works, New Dramatists, LAByrinth Theatre, and Playing on Air, Public Radio’s showcase for great American short contemporary plays.

Personal life

Daryl is married to real estate investor Steven Roth. She is mother to Jordan Roth, president of Jujamcyn Theaters,[31] and Amanda Salzhauer, a social worker[32]
