David Myers (born 30 June 1989) is a professional Australian rules footballer, currently playing for the Essendon Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL).
He is a tall midfielder originally from Perth in the WAFL, he also attended Wesley College, Perth.[1]
AFL career
Myers was drafted with the 6th overall selection in the 2007 national draft by Essendon.
On 12 January 2016 Myers was named as one of 34 past and present Essendon players found guilty over their use of illegal supplements during the 2012 AFL season. As a result, Myers was suspended for twelve months, effective from November 2015, which meant he missed the entire 2016 AFL season.[2]
The suspension lead to speculation that Myers would exercise his rights as an unrestricted free agent and leave Essendon, however on the 11th of May, he signed a 3 year contract to remain with Essendon until the end of the 2019 season.
