Dipjol (Born : Monowar Hossain Dipjol,[1][2] Bengali: মনোয়ার হোসেন ডিপজল, on 15 June 1958), is a Bangladeshi actor, producer, writer, politician, ward commissioner and a businessman, recognised as one of the most popular villains in Bengali cinema.[3][4][5][6]
Early life
He was born on 15 June 1968 at Bagbari, ward no.9, Mirpur, Dhaka. He is the third son of Sohrab Hossain and Jobeda Begum. His elder brothers are Shahadat Hossain Badsha, and Anowar Hossain Afzal. He has four sisters. They are Noorjahan Begum, Selina Begum, Parvin Begum and Jesmin Begum. He is the grandson of famous businessman and donor Hazi Lal Miah Fakir. He is married to Rumana Monowar[7] and has four kids. Shadman Monowar Omi, Sadab Monowar Fahim and Samir Monowar are his three sons and Oliza Monowar is his only daughter. Oliza Monowar(his Daughter) is a Film,TV and Theater Makeup Artist in London.
Career
He is the elected Ward Commissioner[7][8] number 9 since 1994. He is the owner of Fahim Shooting spot, in Rajfulbari, Savar. He also owns Asia cinema hall, Parbat Cinema Hall, Parbat Pictures −2 (A film production and distribution house). He is a supporter of Bangladesh Nationalist Party.[1]
Criminal charges
He was charged in 11 criminal cases including for murder and extortion. he was sentenced to jail on an arms charge.[7] He was sentenced to 41 years in jail for a number of charges.[9]
