Distribution of seats in the Austrian Landtage

The Austrian Landtage are the unicameral legislatures of the nine Austrian states, according to the Constitution of Austria deciding in all matters unless explicitly subject of federal legislation. On federal level the Landtage (state diets) are represented in the Federal Council.

Eight political parties are represented in the Landtage legislative assemblies. Currently the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP), the Social Democratic Party of Austria (SPÖ), the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ), and the Green Party are represented in all state diets.

The seats of ruling parties are in bold fonts. The state governments of Carinthia, Lower Austria and Upper Austria are formed according to the principle of proportional representation.

The largest faction (Klub) usually nominates the state governor (Landeshauptmann).
