Electoral (Amendment) (Dáil Constituencies) Act 2013
The Electoral (Amendment) (Dáil Constituencies) Act 2013 (No. 7/2013) is a law of Ireland that provides for new parliamentary constituencies. It took effect at the 2016 Irish general election for the 32nd Dáil Éireann,[1] held on 26 February 2016.
This Act replaced the Electoral (Amendment) Act 2009, which defined the constituencies used for the 31st Dáil (elected in 2011). The 2012 report of the Constituency Commission,[2] an independent body established by the Government of Ireland to review constituency boundaries, proposed several changes to Dáil constituencies. It also reduced the number of seats in the Dáil by 8 from 166 to 158.These changes were provided for by the Act.
