Eltham Palace F.C. is an English football club located in Sidcup, Southeast London. The club plays in the Southern Counties East League Division One. Eltham Palace spent most of its history in the Kent County Football League, until its promotion to the Kent Invicta League for the 2012–13 season.
History
The club was formed in 1961[1] by Peter Johnson, a teacher from Eltham Green School and football league referee. The team consisted of Eltham Green School pupils who wished to stay together after leaving the school. They entered the club into the South East London Amateur League. The club later entered the Kent County Football League, finishing runners-up of Division Two West in 1979–80 and gaining promotion to Division One West.[2] They finished runners-up of this league in 1981–82 and 1987–88.[2] Palace were later relegated back to Division Two West, but after two successive promotions in 2009–10 and 2010–11, the club was in the Kent County League Premier Division.[3] After finishing third in the Premier Division the club attained promotion to the Kent Invicta League due to the two teams above them not passing ground grading criteria.[4] This was their first season at level 10 of the English football league system.
Colours
Eltham Palace's colours are royal blue shirts (yellow trim), with royal blue shorts (yellow trim) and royal blue and yellow socks.[5] The away kit is white shirts, black shorts and white socks.[6]
