Faujdarhat Cadet College, is a military high school (grade 7 to grade 12), modelled after public schools in the UK (according to the Public Schools Act 1868), financed partially by the Bangladesh Army, located at Faujdarhat, near Chittagong, in Bangladesh.
History
Faujdarhat Cadet College boards 300 boys between the ages of 12 and 18, 50 in each year for grades 7 to 12. Admission is through a nationwide test composed of written, oral, medical examinations & ISSB.
It was the first cadet college to be established in erstwhile East Pakistan. It was established on 28 April 1958[1] by New Zealander William Maurice Brown. Until 1965, it was known as the East Pakistan Cadet College.
The Principal of the school is ranked Lieutenant Colonel, and is appointed by the Adjutant General's branch of the Bangladesh Army.
From 2003, the cadet colleges in Bangla Desh were converted to the English version of the National curriculum.
Academic system
Cadets are enrolled in the seventh grade and continue their study for six years. The Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) is the final examination to pass.
Each class generally has fifty students. The Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations are administered under direct control of the Board of Education of Dhaka Division. Cadets secure top positions in board examinations each year.
Houses
There are two storeyed 4 houses . According to seniority of establishment,the houses are:
- Rabindra House: color Yellow, motto "Lion King".
- Nazrul House: color Blue, motto "Jaguar"
- Fazlul Huq House: color Green, motto "Panther"
- Shahidullah House: color Red, motto "Tigress"
