The Glasgow Tigers are an American Football Team based in Glasgow, Scotland. Previously, from 1986 until 2001, the team was known as the Strathclyde Sheriffs.
They currently play in the BAFA National Leagues in the northern section
History
Formed as the Strathclyde Sheriffs in 1984 by Glasgow police and started regular season play in 1986. Virtually ever present since 1986. Reached the semi-finals of the BNGL Premier Division in 1991 and were then disqualified after a player registration scandal. They then missed the following two seasons, before starting again in 1993. Entered the SGA for 4 seasons between 1995 and 1998. Became known as the Glasgow Tigers in 2002.
2015 season
Glasgow Tigers 38–0 Dundee Hurricanes

The Tigers were on the road to Dundee on Sunday and had their best away win of the season against a resolute Hurricane outfit at Morgan Rugby Club. The game started with the Tigers defence holding the Hurricanes to a three and out, with linebackers Thompson Sunerton and Jamie Boyd being particularly dominant for the Glasgow side.
The Tigers then got going on their second possession when the eighteenth play of the drive had quarterback Darnell Starks hit a peach of a pass to Scott Vallance for the opening score. Dundee held firm on the conversion attempt. There was no further scoring in a tense first half with the Dundee defence picking up two interceptions but unable to make them count, due to the stout defence of the Tigers. The last play of the half saw Tigers cornerback James Lindsay intercept a Dundee pass and leave his team up by 6–0.
The third quarter started well for the Tigers as they drove down the field and Starks connected with Michael Church for another score and Church then ran in the conversion. The Dundee offence tried to get back into the game but a couple of key injuries hampered their efforts.
The fourth quarter saw a flurry of scores as the Tigers added to their lead, with firstly, a short Mo Adams run, and a Starks conversion pass to Paddy O’ Donnell. Next up was another nice pass into the endzone and this time Starks found receiver Stuart McNeil. Adams then added the conversion run.
The final Tigers touchdown came when Jamie Boyd intercepted a wayward Dundee pass and took it all the way back, outrunning most of the Dundee defence before reaching the endzone. Starks then stretched out and added the conversion run himself. The final score of 38–0 did not look likely at halftime, however the Tigers stepped up their game in the second half to show just what they are capable of.
Tigers Earn Their Stripes
Glasgow Tigers 60–16 Northumberland Lightning

The Tigers welcomed Northumberland to Lochinch and set to work quickly, when Linebacker Robert Poore recovered the ball for the Tigers and then Quarterback Darnell Starks hit Anthony Rice for the opening score. Mo Adams added the conversion run and an 8–0 lead.
The Tigers increased that lead when Linebacker JJ Crawford added a safety mid way through the first quarter. Then the Lightning came back into the game and pinned Glasgow down on their own one yard line, and a bad snap hit the posts and Ben Harris recovered for the Northumberland touchdown score. The Tigers defence stopped the conversion.
The Tigers offense then stepped up a gear and Starks found Scott Vallance with a touchdown pass. A huge 60 yard punt return from Glasgow's Robb Gould gave them a short field and this time Starks passed to Liam Baird for another score while Starks ran in the conversion.
As the quarter was just about to end another Starks pass found Robb Gould waiting in the end zone, while Mo Adams ran in the conversion.
The Tigers had a 32–6 halftime lead and increased that with the first play of the second half when David McLintock had an 86-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.
To their credit the Lightning never gave up and had a safety when Ben Harris harassed the Tigers QB in the endzone. A short Mo Adams run increased the Tigers lead to 44–8 as the third quarter ended.
The final quarter saw Starks connect again with Scott Vallance for another Tigers touchdown pass, while Liam Baird ran in the conversion. Northumberland fought back and Ross Conley scored on a long 58-yard run, while Reece Salkeld added the Lightning conversion. A big Mo Adams run set up the Tigers final score of the day when Fearghus Maher bulldozed his way in for a 25-yard touchdown run. Tigers running back Andy Reid added the conversion run to make it 60–16 for the Tigers.
Glasgow Tigers 27–3 Northumberland Lightning

The Tigers made a road trip to Northumberland in the Lightning's first official league game and the sun was out on a lovely Easter Sunday to mark the occasion.
The Tigers got off to a great start on their opening kickoff return with David McLintock taking the ball all the way up to the halfway mark. The Tigers then moved the ball well and ended the drive with a scoring touchdown from Andrew Reid from 16 yards out. The Lightning stopped the extra point.
The Lightning then had a drive and managed to get on the board themselves when kicker Ross Conley scored with a field goal and reduced the deficit to 6–3 .
In the second quarter the Glasgow side managed two more touchdowns, first a short Andrew Reid run with the same player running in the conversion and then a Paddy O Donnell run from 11 yards out. This time Andrew Reid kicked the extra point conversion. The Lightning then tried to get back in the game with a long field goal attempt that went wide right. The Tigers had a healthy 21–3 lead at halftime and were enjoying their game in the sunshine.
In the third quarter the Northumberland quarterback started to connect with his receivers but the Glasgow defence restricted them to a field goal attempt that was blocked by Tigers linebacker Thompson Sunerton.
Tigers quarterback Darnell Starks then threw a pass to Paddy O Donnell for 20 yards for another Tigers touchdown. Once again the Lightning stopped the conversion.
Both sides moved the ball in the fourth quarter but just as the Lightning looked to be getting things moving Tigers lineman David Burke snuffed out the drive with a fumble recovery. There was no further scoring, and the final result of 27–3 will have pleased the Glasgow side while Northumberland will be happy with the effort shown by their team.
