Grande Prairie Transit (colloquially referred to as GP Transit) is the public transportation system in the city of Grande Prairie in northwestern Alberta, Canada. For most of its history, the bus service was operated by private contractors. During that time the Public Works Department was responsible for GP Transit and the vehicles were still owned by the city.[2] In September 2013, the city brought the drivers in-house, allowing the city to have more flexibility in service quality and cost factors.[1]
Six bus routes operate every 30 minutes during peak hours and hourly the rest of the day, with reduced service on Saturdays, Sundays and statutory holidays. Route 7 operates only during peak hours. [3] The transit terminal is located downtown at the corner of 99th Street and 99th Avenue, adjacent to the Towne Centre Mall, and provides a convenient point for transfers between some bus routes. Hours of Operations
Transit service is provided 7 days a week. Monday through Friday, service starts between 5:50 am and 6:00 am, depending on the route, with the exception of Route 5, which starts at 6:35 am. On Saturday service starts at around 8:30 am, while on Sunday, and statutory holidays, service starts at around 9:00 am.
End of Service
At 10:15pm Monday through Saturday, and 4:15 pm on Sunday, and statutory holidays, all buses end service providing one last run to deliver passengers to their destinations. No pickups after Towne Center Mall
The bus serving Route 1 will deliver passengers on Route 1 Southview/Country Club to their destinations.
The bus serving Route 2 will deliver passengers on Routes 2 Prairie Mall via Composite High School and 4 GPRC to their destinations.
The bus serving Route 3 will deliver passengers on Routes 1 Prairie Mall via Crystal Ridge/QEII and 3 Prairie Mall via Cobblestone/Crystal Heights to their destinations.
The bus serving Route 4 will deliver passengers on 2 Patterson Place/Countryside South and 3 Eastlink Centre via Mission Heights to their destinations.
At 10:05 pm (Monday through Saturday) and at 4:05 pm (Sunday or Statutory Holidays) the bus serving Route 5 will deliver passengers on Route 5 to their destinations. No pickups after the Prairie Mall.
At 10:21 pm (Monday through Saturday) and at 4:21 pm (Sunday or Statutory Holidays) the bus serving Route 6 bus will deliver passengers on Route 6 to their destinations. No pickups after GPRC.
Peak Hours Operations
Between the hours of 7:00 am and 9:15 am, and 3:00 pm and 6:15 pm, Monday through Friday, peak hour service is provided. All routes operate at 30 minute frequency. Route 4 does not receive Peak Hour operation as it is 30 minute frequency all day.

Paratransit
Specialized transport services are supplied by the independent Disabled Transportation Society (DTS) of Grande Prairie, which operates five wheelchair accessible vehicles and one fifteen passenger van.[4] The non-profit society is largely funded by the city, supplemented by donations and other fundraising events.
