The Hun Sen Cup is the main football knockout tournament in Cambodia.

History

Having been elected as President of the Football Federation of Cambodia in late 2006, H.E. Lt. Gen. Sao Sokha, who is also the Commander of the Cambodian National Gendarmeries, has initiated a football development program consisting of grassroots education of coaches and referees, and competitions. Besides youth competitions of certain levels, Cambodian League and Samdech Hun Sen Cup are the highest football competitions organized every year by Football Federation of Cambodia (FFC).

The 1st Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padey Decho Hun Sen Cup was organized in 2007. Twenty eight teams from most of the cities and provinces in the country participated. There were two stages - group and knock out. Sixteen teams which qualified from the group stage played in the knock out stage until the finals. Khemara Keila was the Champion and Nagacorp FC was the runner-up.

In the 6th season of the Hun Sen Cup (Hun Sen Cup 2012), the format was changed until now. The top eight or ten teams of Cambodian League enter the group stage while the other teams from Phnom Penh and provinces play in qualification before going through to the group stage.
