Hanham Woods Academy is a secondary academy belonging to the Cabot Learning Federation, situated in Hanham on the outskirts of Bristol, England. The school has achieved the Artsmark Gold Award, Sportsmark, the Healthy Schools Award, International Schools Award, IiP, ICT and Basic Skills Quality Marks the “ICE” (Community Engagement) Award, and is part of a Diploma Pathfinder (14-19). It was rated “good with outstanding features” by Ofsted in March 2009. Stephen Merchant is a former pupil.
The School uses the Moodle virtual learning environment (VLE) to set and collect homework, and set extended learning projects as part of a homework schedule. A new system is being pioneered at Hanham High, whereby bad behaviour loses pupils points and good behaviour gains points. These points show on the VLE at the end of the year prizes will be awarded according to points, and pupils with enough points will be able to go on a reward trip. The school still uses detentions as part of a Negative Behaviour framework but it is more common to lose points. The school has recently had a crackdown, resulting in points being deducted for incorrect school uniform. The school is now a Learning to Lead School with different "teams" aiming to improve issues around the school.
The Academy uniform is a black jumper with house coloured ties.
