Hassan N'Dam N'Jikam (born February 18, 1984) is a Cameroonian-French professional boxer and former Interim WBA and WBO middleweight champion.[1] He is currently ranked by The Ring magazine at #8 in the middleweight division.[2]
Amateur
Ndam Njikam won the silver medal in the Middleweight division in 2003, at the All-Africa Games in Abuja, Nigeria losing to Ramadan Yasser 6:13.[3]
He participated in the 2004 Summer Olympics for his native African country. There he beat both PanAm champion Juan Ubaldo and Andy Lee on razor-thin countback decisions but was defeated in the quarterfinals of the Middleweight (75 kg) division by Russia's eventual winner Gaydarbek Gaydarbekov.[3]
His amateur record was 77-4-3.[3]
Professional career
He turned pro in 2004 in France and won his first 24 fights.[1] He eventually captured the interim WBA World Middleweight title against Avtandil Khurtsidze on October 30, 2010.[4] On April 2, 2011, N'Dam N'Jikam defended his interim belt against Giovanni Lorenzo via unanimous decision victory despite being dropped in the fifth round, the scores were 119-110, 116-110 and 119-109.[5] On March 4, 2012, N'Jikam would defeat Max Bursak by unanimous decision for the WBO Interim Middleweight belt. N'dam qualified to return to the Olympics in 2016 at the last qualifying tournament which allowed professionals approved by their national committees to participate, but lost his first Olympic match in the light heavyweight division in Rio de Janeiro to Michel Borges of Brazil.
