Hilton Manchester Deansgate is a hotel in the heart of the city centre of Manchester, United Kingdom. It is situated 1 mile from Piccadilly railway station 20 minutes from Manchester Airport. The hotel is housed within the 47-storey mixed-use skyscraper with the highest residential living space – Beetham Tower, also known as the Hilton Tower.[1] The architect of the building(described as "the UK’s first proper skyscraper outside London"), Ian Simpson bought the top two floors - 48th and 49th.[2]
Occupancy
The four-star Hilton hotel occupies floors from 1 to 22 with its 279 contemporary bedrooms.[3] The hotel has a four-storey annex, containing a swimming pool, ballroom, conference rooms and coffee shop. The coffee shop sells coffee The 23rd floor has a four-metre cantilevered overhang with two glass windows in its floor, overlooking the ground from the skybar, Cloud 23.It ranks among the world’s best bars but only has capacity for 250 people.[4] The bar’s most popular cocktail is Mr. Mercer's Cotton Peculiar. Invented by Lancashire chemist John Mercer (1791 1866), mercerisation treating cotton with caustic soda to give it a smooth silken sheen is a process still used today.[5]
Events
Hilton Manchester Deansgate happened to host different award ceremonies and charity events. Hi-life dining awards - stars and celebrity chefs were out in force Oscars-style night, 25th Anniversary Hi-Life Dining. (February 2009)
Seventh Annual Star Ball (October 2013) - helped to raise significant funds for two very deserving charities, Hilton in the Community Foundation and the NSPCC.[6] Hilton Manchester general manager, John McLaughlin, said: “I’m delighted that our seventh annual Star Ball was a resounding success having raised an incredible amount of money for two very worthy causes. I’d like to personally thank all of our supporters who helped make the event so enjoyable - from the guest performers and celebrities, to local businesses and organisations that donated such wonderful auction prizes, as well as our brilliant Hilton team members, who worked tirelessly to make it such an unforgettable evening. ”More than 450 guests attended the glittering event, which included ‘’’Janette Monroe’’’ and '60s R&B group ‘’’the Flirtations’’’.[7][8]
2014 Cheshire Life Food and Drink Awards (December 2014) - The winners were announced at a glittering ceremony at the Hilton Manchester Deansgate.[9]
Made in Manchester awards - celebrate the best of Manchester’s young talent in the financial and professional sectors. The awards celebrate excellence in innovation, entrepreneurial spirit, training and development and leadership. The award ceremony took place at the Hilton Manchester Deansgate.[10]
