Hugh A. Haralson

Hugh Anderson Haralson (November 13, 1805 – September 25, 1854) was an American farmer and lawyer from Lagrange, Georgia after graduating from Franklin College of Arts and Sciences (University of Georgia).^[1] He served in the state legislature from 1831 to 1832 and the state senate from 1837 to 1838.^[2] He was commissioned a major general in the Georgia Militia, 9th Division, in 1838.^[3] He represented Georgia in the U.S. Congress from 1843 to 1851. He was the father-in-law of the famous Confederate General John Gordon.

Tributes

Hugh A. Haralson is the namesake of Haralson County, Georgia and the city of Haralson, Georgia in Coweta County.^[4]
