Hunter Luke Harvey (born December 9, 1994) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Baltimore Orioles organization.
Career
Hunter was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the first round of the 2013 Major League Baseball Draft out of Bandy High School in Catawba, North Carolina.[1] He signed on June 20, 2013.[2] He made his professional debut that season for the Gulf Coast Orioles.[3] In August he was promoted to the Aberdeen IronBirds.[4][5] Overall, he started eight games, going 0–1 with a 1.78 earned run average (ERA) with 33 strikeouts in 25 1⁄3 innings pitched.
Prior to the 2014 season, Harvey was ranked by Baseball Prospectus as the 58th best prospect in baseball.[6] He started the season with the Delmarva Shorebirds.[7]
On May 12, 2015, Harvey was shut down for 6 weeks due to tightness in his elbow.[8] On August 26, it was announced that Harvey would be throwing in an instructional league, along with fellow Orioles pitcher Dylan Bundy, in September 2015.[9]
Personal
Harvey is the son of former Major League Baseball pitcher Bryan Harvey.[10][11] His brother Kris Harvey, played in Minor League Baseball from 2005 to 2012.[12]
