Initiatives

Innovision '12 promoted the wide-range usage of renewable resources like hydel and solar power. The Department of Mechanical Engineering presented a solar energy- driven vehicle for the cause. Innovision made use of recycled paper of 140 GSM for print works. In addition to this, the sound systems used in many events such as the exhibitions were solar-driven. Moreover, to promote online publicity, Innovision took up promotion via online blogs[12][13] and its Facebook page.

In 2013, Innovision '13 collaborated with a non-traditional Indian NGO, Bakul Foundations, which aims to fight against the different social and environmental evils that persist in the national and international forum such as poverty, deforestation, social injustice, etc. The main objective for this tie-up was to promote the concept of “progression is education”. Bakul Foundations and Innovision objectified for a book donation campaign to help the poor who want to study.

Also, since 2013, Innovision has close relations with the Akshaya Patra Foundation, an NGO that provides free food to the poor and aims to achieve food sufficiency in the society.

Tech Day

In addition to Innovision, the Technical Society at NIT Rourkela also conducts an intra-institute single-day series of events before Innovision. About two months prior to the annual techno-management fest, this prelude to the fest is organized with the purpose of publicity and interest development. Christened Tech Day, this one-day function features smaller versions of events that are projected for being held in Innovision. Every year, this event sees participation by the students of NIT Rourkela only and serves the purpose of attracting them to Innovision.
