The Institute of Engineering & Management (IEM), is a privately funded technical and management school located in the state of West Bengal, India. It was founded in 1989 and is thus the oldest private engineering school in the province.[1] IEM group has recently opened a university in Kolkata named University of Engineering & Management (UEM), Kolkata.[2] IEM has a strong collaboration with UEM, Kolkata to maintain a good environment of study and help each other in academics, research and faculty exchange programs.

IEM possesses decentralized academic campuses. Three of the academic campuses and an administrative unit are located in Salt Lake Electronics Complex (Bidhan Nagar), Sector-V, Salt Lake City. They are:

Another campus is in Barasat, greater Calcutta. It has a separate accommodation facility for the students.[3]

Academics

The undergraduate courses offer B.Tech in engineering fields including Information Technology while the postgraduate courses offer M.Tech. There is a provision for Ph.D in Electronics and Communication Engineering and MSc. in Information Science. The institute offers postgraduate diploma course (Polytechnic) in Management Studies.

Apart from these, the Faculty of Technology offers Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) degree course. The institute offers Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) and Master in Business Administration (MBA) degree courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate level respectively. [4]

Admission

At the undergraduate level, students are primarily admitted on the basis of the ranks in the state-level and national-level engineering entrance examination - WBJEE and JEE-Main respectively. BCA and BBA admissions are taken with class 12 results.[5] Admission in MBA is conducted through nationwide Common Admission Test.

The institute is ranked among the top 100 colleges in India.[6]
