Ishaan Mazumdar
Ishaan Mazumdar[1][2] (born on 30 December ), also known as Mayukh Mazumder, is a Bengali film actor, singer, composer, lyricist, voice-over artist, TV-anchor and model.
Ishaan[3] began in the IT industry after graduating in Computer Science. However, his real passion was for singing. He has sung at hundreds of stage shows and corporate events. He has also been a playback singer in Kannada cinema and commercials.
Ishaan is one of the finalists from South Zone in the CHANNEL [V] SUPER SINGER Contest, he represented Karnataka in ZEE TV’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, and was a contestant in ZEE TV’s ANTAKSHARI.
He has been awarded the ‘Best Singer’ in ‘Hadi Gondu Hadu’ ETV( Kannada) program and also awarded for ‘Best Original Composition’ at FREEDOM JAM Concert, Bangalore.
Ishaan then began writing his own songs and released two Bengali Solo Albums, ‘Aamar Para’ and ‘Prem Antaheen’. While the video album for Prem Antaheen was shooting, Ishaan was spotted and given his big break to debut in a 2012 Bengali Film called ‘Darling’.
He has attended acting workshops from Nimu Bhaumik and Aurobindo Ghosh in Kolkata.[4]
Early life and family
Ishaan is the eldest son of businessman Mr Santi Mazumder and his wife Nandita ( Das) later surname Majumder ). His paternal ancestors were from East Bengal, now Bangladesh.
Ishaan has been trained on Hindustani Classical Music by Pt Mukund Ghosh.
Ishaan finished his schooling till secondary at Patha Bhavan Kolkata at Ballygunge then moved to Ashutosh College with Science as main subject and completed his higher secondary. Then he moved to Bellary, Karnataka and gained his Bachelors in Computer Science from BREC College and Post-Graduation in Computers from Ambedkar Institute of Technology, Bangalore. He then worked for a number of IT companies over the next few years. However, singing and acting were always his passion. He performed in stage shows in Bangalore and all over South India.
He has shared the stage with the legends like Hariharan and Kumar Sanu in the past and has performed in over 500 shows of every kind- corporate shows, private shows, charity shows, at cultural events and others.
He has sung the song 'Aata Atu Aada' for composer Rajan- Nagendra which was actually sung by Kishore Kumar for the same music director in the year 1965 for the Kannada movie Kulla Agent 000 . He has taken part in Zee Sa Re Ga Ma, representing Karnataka and has hosted a show for Tara Music in the past. However, since the last few years the 2nd chapter of his life has started as now he also wants to evolve as an actor and has already acted in the films: Darling, Pratyavartan, Postmaster [5] and another Untitled Film.[4]
