Alliance (A5345) is a NATO Research Vessel owned by NATO and operated by Marina Militare as Research vessel and shared by CMRE – Centre for Maritime Research and Experimentation, in La Spezia Italy.

History

Commissioned on April 1988 to SACLANT (Undersea Research Centre – SACLANTCEN, then named NATO Underwater Research Centre – NURC and now CMRE – Centre for Maritime Research and Experimentation) of La Spezia, under Germany flag.
Since 23 December 2015 under Italian flag and than, since 31 March 2016, commissioned to Marina Militare.

Throughout 2015 negotiations conducted with Italian MoD and NATO on future ship operating model.[6]
