John Elwood "Davy" Davis was an American football player and coach in the United States.
Playing career
Davis graduated from the University of Iowa in Iowa City.[1] He played football for the Iowa Hawkeyes and was captain of the football team.[2]
Coaching career
High school coaching
Coach Davis spent time coaching in the high school ranks in Iowa from 1917 to 1919.[3]
Kansas Wesleyan
Davis was the eight head football coach for the Kansas Wesleyan University Coyotes located in Salina, Kansas and he held that position for the 1920 season. His coaching record at Kansas Wesleyan was 0 wins, 1 loss, and 2 ties. As of the conclusion of the 2009 season, this ranks him 16th at Kansas Wesleyan in total wins and 14th at the school in winning percentage (.333).[4]
