Jose M. Hernandez (born February 9, 1940 in Bakersfield, California) is a former American and later Canadian football wide receiver who has played in the National Football League for the Washington Redskins and the Edmonton Eskimos in the Canadian Football league.

Career

Hernandez played college football at the University of Arizona and was drafted in the second round of the 1962 NFL Draft. Hernandez was also selected in the fifth round of the 1962 AFL Draft by the Oakland Raiders.[1]

Upon his return to the Edmonton Eskimos he switched to playing defensive back and was a two time all-star (1967 and 1970.)

Personal life

Hernandez is of Mexican descent.
