John F. Wood, Jr. (born January 13, 1936) is an American politician who represents district 29A in the Maryland House of Delegates. He has served for more than 20 years and is the former chairman of two key House committees.
Background
Delegate Wood was born in Leonardtown, Maryland on January 13, 1936. He attended Charlotte Hall Military Academy and later served in Maryland National Guard (sergeant)for 8 years, from 1952 to 1960.[1]
In the legislature
Wood has been a member of House of Delegates since January 14, 1987. He currently serves on the House Appropriations Committee and its public safety and administration and its personnel oversight subcommittees. He is also a member of the important Legislative Policy Committee. Woods was the Chair of the Commerce and Government Matters Committee from 1999–2003 and the chair of the Joint Committee on Administrative, Executive and Legislative Review, 2003-0.[2]
